Workplace accident: what the employer does
First, care for the injured person. Then, within 24 hours, report to the Labour Inspectorate and e-EFKA, and in case of serious injury or death to the police as well. Meanwhile, the evidence at the scene stays as it was, so the causes can be found.
Step by step
- Care and safetyFirst aid, call the ambulance (166 or 112) and move others away from the danger.
- Preserve the evidenceThe employer must keep unchanged everything that can help establish the causes. Take photos before anything changes.
- Report within 24 hoursTo the Labour Inspectorate and e-EFKA for every workplace accident. For serious injury (transfer and hospital admission) or death, also to the nearest police authority.
- Record itCauses and description in the accident book; accidents with more than three working days of incapacity in the relevant list.
- Investigate and actThe measures to prevent a repeat are recorded in the recommendations book, and the risk assessment is updated.

Where is the accident reported?
To the competent services of the Labour Inspectorate and e-EFKA. The official procedure is described on gov.gr (in Greek).
What about occupational diseases?
The employer reports a work-related disease to the Labour Inspectorate and e-EFKA within 5 days of being informed by the occupational physician or of a diagnosis by a public health system doctor.
